Port Dickson — or "PD" to locals — is one of the easiest seaside escapes from Kuala Lumpur, just about 90 minutes away. Whether you're here for a lazy beach weekend or a packed family trip, here are the best things to do, all within easy reach of Casa Nina in Pasir Panjang.
Relax on the beaches
PD is built around its coastline. Pasir Panjang (literally long beach) is the calmer, quieter stretch — perfect for a slow morning walk. Further along you'll find the popular Teluk Kemang and the photogenic Blue Lagoon at Tanjung Tuan. Bring a mat, pack some snacks, and settle in.
Climb to Cape Rachado Lighthouse
At Tanjung Tuan, a short forest trail leads up to the Cape Rachado Lighthouse — one of the oldest in Malaysia. The view over the Straits of Malacca at the top is worth the climb, and during migration season it's a famous spot for watching raptors cross from Sumatra.
Eat fresh seafood
No trip to PD is complete without seafood. Look for grilled fish, udang galah (freshwater prawns) and butter-pepper crab at the local seafood restaurants along the coast. It's the perfect end to a day by the sea.
See the fireflies
A short drive inland near Kampung Bukit Bangkong, evening firefly tours take you along the river to see thousands of fireflies light up the mangroves — a quiet, magical experience the kids will remember.
Get out on the water
For something more active, PD has plenty of watersports — banana boats, jet skis and parasailing are easy to find along the busier beaches.
Make Casa Nina your base
The best part of a PD trip is having a comfortable home to return to. Casa Nina is a seaside homestay in Pasir Panjang that sleeps up to 9, with rooftop sea views, a BBQ area and full kitchen, and private parking for the whole group.
